Today is day 4 of being unemployed. Thanks to the Cook County Budget cuts, I am no longer a public defender. My dream job will have to change to photographer. Or criminal... round up my ex clients and see if they will go half on a brick.

Here is the logic of the powers that be of Cook County. Save money by laying off young public defenders without thinking about the fact that the time a defendant's trial is started will be delayed because each attorney will have more clients. The clients will spend more time in County Jail where the cost to house a human is quite high. Therefore, the county will end up spending more money.

And it is not like more money is spent on preventative measures like drug rehab programs or job training programs.

With all of the condos going up in the southside, one would think that the people who live there would be the ones building these condos - WRONG! Maybe I should get in the construction business...

I guess I need to come to the conclusion that people in power don't give a fuck about the poor. Why not come out and just tell them, "you are on your own!" Why did it take so long for me to understand this and have my bubble busted?

Other Annoying Issues!

Because blogging has only allowed me to bitch electronically, I will post my first blog of '06 by exploring the most annoying issues that surround my life.

First, why is it that everytime there is a sporting event in Oakland, that damn blimp has to show the San Francisco skyline? Fisherman's Wharf? Yeah, yeah... I know your sarcastic answer is that there is nothing to show in Oakland except the hood. And my response is to tell that camera man to get his lazy ass out of the blimp and take it to the streets. Go to Fruitvale and catch someone taking their first bite into that lovely taco from the taco truck. The lights surrounding Lake Merritt. The Oakland Hills! Travel down College Avenue in Rockridge. (Finally, the TNT blimp during the Warriors game shows Oakland, too bad it is the loading docks at the Port of Oakland).

Why does every commercial for black people have to have all black people in it? Furthermore, they are always trying to act way too cool and there is always some horrible knock off of a soul hit being played. Now the car companies are not afraid to pimp their 21 inch rims. Is it illegal for a black person to be dating or married to a white on during a commerical? Is it that these advertising companies give 2% of their funds to funding adds aimed towards minorities and feel compelled to staff them with all blacks? If commercials reflect society, do latinos, Asian Americans and Indian Americans exist? Why does Derrick Fisher believe that he is the number one option for the warriors? Especially when he is shooting 0-7? Is Fisher trying to get traded? I have yet to even see the Fisher Flop!

Why do the Warriors wear such corny uniforms? Who is the consultant who tells ownership that the Warrior fan base will expand because their name is the Golden State and therefore encompasses all of California? No one outside of the bay area cares about the Warriors and that might be a stretch. People in LA don't even know what city the Warriors play in. Maybe this is why the Warriors are losing by 22 to Indiana in what is probably their only nationally televised game (who are not playing with O'Neal or Artese). Charles Barkley will be talking non-stop shit!

Why do people act like today's rap music is hot? The masses (I am trying to sound like I am a pro-black revolutionary) are brainwashed by whatever shit is played on the radio by the hot new here today gone tommorrow cornball entertainer. Life was better when the rap isle at the local record store was an arms length. When Leopold's records still existed on the corner of Telegraph and Durant in Berkeley (although cronic stealing by my friends and yours probably put them out of business). Fisher, hit a fucking free throw! Who the hell is Slim Thug and why is Beyonce doing a duet with him? Did slim thug catch Jay-Z cheating and blackmale him?

Why are white people afraid to be openly pro-white? Besides the fact that white people are usually pro-white and sometimes for good reason (We are all self interested people). Besides the fact that one can go out to the Northside of Chicago and see not a nare negro at one of the many Irish themed smoke filled bars. So I guess white people don't actively have to be pro-white. That is just the way life is. Then when will it be odd for my dad to want Texas to win only because their quarterback is black? Or for him to want Indy to win the Superbowl only because of the race of their coach? Maybe when he sits in a Nigerian themed bar with a bunch of blacks listening to Nigerian tribal music acting like they remember when their grandparents used to play those songs.
